These square head lag screws are perfect.
They have an old-school, antique square head (fits a 9/16\ socket or wrench) instead of the usual hex head.
They're 3/8 inches in diameter and 3 inches long.
The big deal is the BLAKOTE finish – it's a four-layer ceramic coating that's way more corrosion-resistant than regular galvanized coatings, so they're built for outdoor use without rusting.
The finish is matte black and might show some slight silver marks from handling, but that's just the nature of the coating and part of the rustic charm.
Remember to drill a pilot hole first.
